Telangana Government has focussed its attention on providing employment to unemployed SC, ST, BC and Minority youth.

The government has decided to provide financial assistance of ₹6,000 crore to five lakh unemployed youth from these sections under Rajiv Yuva Vikasam enabling them to take up self-employment. Each of the selected beneficiaries will be provided with financial assistance of ₹3 lakh under the scheme enabling them to opt for self-employment.

The scheme, according to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, has been conceived as the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government had neglected empowerment of youth, creating job opportunities during its 10 year tenure. The Congress government had therefore decided to tap different avenues to ensure that unemployed youth are provided with jobs.

Notification to the scheme on March 15

The Deputy Chief Minister recalled how youth suffered under the previous government which completely neglected their interests and did not provide them opportunities for taking up self-employment . Notification pertaining to Rajiv Yuva Vikasam will be issued on March 15 and unemployed youth could apply for the scheme online till April 5.

Sanction letters to be handed over on June 2

Scrutiny of the applications for selection of eligible beneficiaries will be taken up between April 6 and May 31 and the selection youth would be handed over sanction letters on June 2, coinciding with the State formation day. Officials concerned had been asked to prepare guidelines for the effective implementation of Rajiv Yuva Vikasam, ‘the scheme which reflected the social responsibility of the Congress government in providing hand-holding to unemployed youth’.
