The Police Command Control Center in Chennai received a call hinting at a bomb threat to Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota (SDSC-SHAR) in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh on Monday.
Though the call created flutters in the government circles as well as in the corridors of space research administration, the call however turned out to be a hoax.
Undaunted, the security agencies enhanced the search operations across the island campus, which is located 100km from the temple city of Tirupati.
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), along with the Tirupati and Nellore district police staff, carried out the search operation at the compound, including the staff quarters, for any possible threat.
On its part, the Coast Guard also remained vigilant by patrolling along the Sriharikota island.
Not leaving anything to chance, the security agencies improved vigil on all the roads in and around Sriharikota and also conducted vehicular checks on the lone road leading to the space centre.
