Three children drowned in the Velliyangal Odai near Kattumannarkovil town in Cuddalore district on Monday (April 14, 2025) evening.
The police said the deceased have been identified as M. Ubaithullah, 8, Mohamed Hafil, 10 and Sheik Abdul Rahman, 13 of Jahir Hussain Nagar in Kattumannarkovil.
On Monday evening, the children ventured into the deeper part of the Velliyangal Odai and drowned. A few other children who were bathing in the stream tried to rescue them and called for help.
The locals launched a search and alerted the Fire and Rescue Services personnel who retrieved the bodies and sent them to the Kattumannarkovil General Hospital for post-mortem.
A case has been registered.
