Three members of a family lost their lives in a road accident near Nelamangala on Thursday morning while they were on their way to attend a naming ceremony in Hiriyur.
The deceased have been identified as Gopala, 60, his wife Shashikala, 54, and their daughter Deepa, 25. Gopala’s grandchildren, aged one-and-a-half years and five years, who were also in the car, escaped with no injuries.
According to the police, the accident took place around 10.30 a.m. in the Nelamangala traffic police limits. The car in which the victims travelled rammed into a road divider on the Bengaluru-Tumakuru Highway, the officials said.
The police said that the impact of the collision was severe, and all three adults died on the spot. Their bodies have been sent to the hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered to ascertain the cause of the crash, they added.
