Known for his contentious political speeches and ‘controversy, thy name’, senior Congress leader Turupu Jayaprakash Reddy is getting ready to set the silver screen ablaze with a movie titled ‘Jagga Reddy’, the name he is popularly known with.

It is an unexpected move from the three-time MLA and presently the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president, whose every statement has the potential to create political controversy whether it is aimed at the political opponents or his own party.

Mr. Jagga Reddy, who has an affinity with the Gandhi family, plays a Don who comes to the rescue of a couple from two different castes in love and trying to unite them breaking the societal rules. The character has loads of shades resembling his own personality of a controversial figure yet loved by his constituency people. The film is likely to be released early next year.

“There is no politics in the film as it is a love story where I end up uniting the two love birds coming from two different social backgrounds,” says Mr. Jagga Reddy, who himself is married outside his caste. “There won’t be much of a script and dialogues for my character and I will be myself just like people know me in Telangana.”

Mr. Reddy clarified that he is not going away from politics and has accepted the film that is woven around his personality just for fun. Sangareddy constituency that he represented in the Assembly thrice – in the combined Andhra Pradesh and also in separate Telangana will continue to be his political interest. With a strong belief in Hinduism, he conducts Maha Shivratri in a grand style every year but he commands equal respect among the minorities.
