BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Thursday said that the ruling DMK government should focus on the welfare of people in the State rather than sending teams to other States on the proposal delimitation, which is non-existent.

Interacting with reporters here, Ms. Soundararajan, said that the DMK government has failed in all aspects of governance including maintaining law and order (L&O) in the State with at least 44 murders occurring in Tirunelveli district alone. “Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has not sent any such teams to neighbouring States like Karnataka and Kerala to address key issues like the Cauvery water dispute and Mullaperiyar dam even though Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has openly said that Mekedatu dam will be built,” she said.

Highlighting the deterioration of law and order in the State, the former Telangana Governor said that the ganja menace, day-light murders, crimes against women and children are on the rise. There was not much progress in the investigation of the case of the suspicious death of Tirunelveli East District Congress president K.P.K. Jeyakumar Dhanasingh on May 4 last year (2024). “Apart from the L & O issue, nurses, government teachers and autorickshaw drivers were organising protests on their guineue demands, which has not been met by the State government. Their concerns should be addressed,” she said.

The former Telangana Governor asserted that people in Tamil Nadu have started to recognise the growth of BJP in the State. It was mainly due to the growth of popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the State for his proactive steps for the development of the country. “As BJP advocates for a three language policy, BJP is not against Tamil language as portrayed by distractors. The Centre led by Mr. Modi has always highlighted the rich heritage of Tamil language,” she said.
