Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath (TNTJ) staged an agitation in Chennai on Thursday criticising the BJP government over the the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024. TNTJ state general secretary A Mujibur Rahman charged that the BJP government was attempting to grab the properties of the Muslims.

By allowing people from other religious communities to become office-bearers in Waqf, the government was attempting to poke its nose into the religious rights of the Muslims. He also thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin who moved a resolution in the Assembly against the Bill. He further called for adopting resolutions in Assemblies of States that were not being ruled by the BJP.
