Two people were injured in a clash between two groups in Ganachari Galli of Belagavi on Tuesday night.

Raju Talawar and Sudesh Lathe were admitted to the District Hospital. They suffered injuries when two groups fought over whether a community hall should be built on a particular piece of land in the Galli or not.

While one group maintained that the land belonged to the Belagavi City Corporation and that some vested interests have encroached upon it, the other group denied it.

On Tuesday, a quarrel broke out between the two groups when some city corporation officers came to the spot to survey the land. Soon, they came to blows and two people were injured.

Khade Bazaar police rushed to the area. The situation is under control now.
