Two people of a family, Triveni, 25, and Shivakumar, 35, died in a road accident on Sunday after the vehicle they were travelling in collided with two trucks on the National Highway near Nelamangala.
The accident occurred in the evening near Boodihala Gate when the duo was transporting luggage in a pickup vehicle driven by one of their relatives, Veerabhadra.
The police said that the driver of the lorry in front suddenly applied the brakes, which forced Veerabhadra to do the same. As a result, the second lorry behind them collided with their vehicle. This impact caused the front tire to crash into the lorry in front, leading to the death of two people.
Veerabhadra escaped with minor injuries, said a police official.
The Nelamangala traffic police registered a case and arrested the drivers of both the lorries. Further probe is under way.
