Residents of Ryave and Varamballi villages in Hosanagara taluk of Shivamogga have decided to take out a march from Varamballi to Hosanagara on Thursday, urging the administration to resolve the mobile network issues in the villages.

The villagers will take out the 10-km march on the day and submit a memorandum to the officers. In the second phase of the protest, the villagers have planned a march up to Lok Sabha member B.Y. Raghavendra’s residence in Shivamogga from April 28.

Melanur Srinivas, president of the Mobile Network Struggle Committee, said that the residents of the villages had been demanding better mobile connectivity for the last eight years. The elected representatives promised to resolve the issue many times. “Many people working in private companies are working from home. They need better connectivity. The officers and the elected representatives have not responded to their problems. Similarly, students also face the problem,” he said.

Vinayak Prabhu Varamballi, secretary of the committee, said that the villagers wrote letters to all authorities concerned, including the Prime Minister. “We will protest, seeking better network connectivity, and intensify our protest until our demand is fulfilled,” he said.
