A 44-year-old woman, identified as Hema, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Nanjappa Layout, Adugodi. Her family has alleged that she was murdered by her husband, and has accused him of having an extramarital affair and maintaining a separate house for the other woman nearby, according to police officials.
According to Hema’s family, she had previously confided to them about her husband’s alleged affair and had even attempted suicide in January. They claim that a heated argument between the couple might have led to her murder.
However, Hema’s husband has denied the allegations, asserting that she died by suicide, allegedly owing to concerns over their daughter’s education.
“Contradicting his claims, Hema’s family stated that no one had actually seen her body hanging, and they suspected foul play after seeing her remains at the hospital,” a police official said, while adding that investigation is going on.
Hema’s daughter, who had been studying in Russia, returned to Bengaluru on Monday and performed the last rites at the Adugodi crematorium.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case of suspicious death and are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death. Investigations are ongoing.
