Woman found dead with throat slit at Parassala in Kerala capital

A 31-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit in her home near Parassala in in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, in the early hours of Friday.

The deceased, identified as Soumya, a doctor who hailed from Kottamam, was allegedly found lying in a pool of blood in a bathroom by her husband, Anoop, around 1 a.m.

According to the police, Anoop’s mother, who is recovering from a leg injury, had been sleeping in a ground-floor bedroom where Soumya usually kept her company at night. When she noticed Soumya’s absence, she alerted Adarsh, who searched the house and found her unconscious in the bathroom upstairs. Deep wounds were visible on her neck and hand.

Despite being rushed to a private hospital in Neyyattinkara, her life could not be saved. While the circumstances surrounding her death remains unclear, preliminary investigations suggest the possibility of suicide. She is believed to have suffered from depression, the police said.
