A 23-year-old woman sustained severe injuries after jumping from a moving train in an attempt to escape an alleged sexual assault on Saturday (March 22, 2025) night.

According to the Secunderabad GRP police, the woman, a native of Uravakonda in Ananthapur district, stays in a women’s hostel in Medchal and works in inventory management for food delivery app.
On March 22, she had travelled to Secunderabad to have her mobile phone repaired.
After completing her errand, she boarded the ladies’ coach of Telapur-Medchal MMTS from Secunderabad railway station around 7.15 p.m. During the journey, two female passengers who had been travelling in the same coach alighted at Alwal railway station, leaving her alone in the compartment.

It was then that an unknown man, about 25 years old, suddenly approached her. According to her statement, he made inappropriate advances, demanding sexual favours. When she refused, he ignored her protests and attempted to force himself upon her. Fearing for her safety, she jumped from the moving train and sustained multiple bleeding injuries to her head, chin, right hand, and waist.
Passersby who found her in distress immediately alerted emergency services, and she was shifted Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad, for medical treatment.
The police said that the victim tated that she would be able to identify her attacker if she saw him again. Following a complaint on Sunday (March 23), a case has been booked and investigation initiated to trace the accused.
