Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday (March 7, 2025) said achieving true progress and sustainable development was fundamentally impossible without the full participation and empowerment of women, as their exclusion would stifle growth and perpetuate inequalities.
Speaking at an international conference “New Gen – Techade for Sustainable Enterprises (MSMEs) – Prosperity for All”, he outlined a comprehensive vision to support women-led enterprises, enhance their skill development, and drive their economic growth through technology and innovation.
Mr. Naidu said in many fields women were now outperforming men, and without them in the workforce, progress was impossible. Citing the Periodic Labour Force Survey 2023-24, he said there was a significant rise in the participation of women’s workforce. Sharing his personal experiences, he said he watched his mother struggle with cooking, which inspired him to launch the Deepam scheme, under which free cooking gas cylinders are given to households. “We are now offering three free gas cylinders to further ease the burden of women,” he pointed out.
Stating that his government was committed to the cause of women empowerment, he said 45% of investments in MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) would be directed towards women-led initiatives. He said any woman with a business idea would receive structured support through the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub initiative.
The Chief Minister urged women to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI). “Imagine AI-based cooking at home where you can programme your meals remotely while returning from the office, and your food is ready by the time you reach home.,” he said, adding that such innovations could transform lives, especially for women who often bear the burden of household chores.
Recognising the challenges of work life balance, the Chief Minister spoke about plans to promote ‘work-from-home’ initiative for women in a big way.
He encouraged women to embrace innovation and relentlessly pursue their ambitions. He called on women entrepreneurs to actively engage with the government’s initiatives and work collectively for the State’s progress. “Let’s work together for development of the State,” he said, reiterating his vision to make Andhra Pradesh a hub of empowered women entrepreneurs, driving the State towards a brighter future.
